SIDING

T1-11 plywood

T1-11 is a type of plywood siding that features an exterior grade with a rough finish. It has a rustic appearance, is inexpensive and easy to maintain. Because of its neutral color T1-11 is perfect for staining with the available choice of colors.

We use treated plywood for the floor and ramp.

Redwood

Redwood is naturally resistant to insects, fungi, and fire because it is high in tannin and does not produce resin or pitch. It can last up to twenty years. We offer two grades of redwood.

CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE Premium grade, referred to as “CLEAR ALL HEART” is the highest appearance quality available in redwood. “CLEAR” means the lumber is free from knots and blemishes. “ALL HEART” means the lumber does not have sap wood (yellowish color); it is all heart wood (red color) Staining with CLEAR color or REDWOOD color is best. Painting is not recommended.

Fence grade may have knots and some sap wood. it may be painted or stained.

IPE

Ipe (also known as Brazilian Walnut or Brazilian Ironwood) is very dense and durable and can last as long as fifty years. It can vary in color between yellow, darker blackish and reddish-brown hues, it can even show contrasting darker brown/black stripes or powdery yellow deposits within the wood structure. Because of its natural beauty, Ipe should never be painted. Staining with CLEAR color is recommended.

We can leave the exterior unfinished allowing you to paint or stain your Hidee to your liking.

Painted

We use Benjamin Moore brand paint exclusively. We apply one coat of primer and two coats of paint on the inside as well as on the outside. You can select from twenty-one available colors.

For a nominal fee we will use a brand and color of paint of your choice.

Stained

We use Penofin Ultra-Premium Red Label translucent stain exclusively. We apply the stain to the inside as well as to the outside. You can select from five available colors.

For a nominal fee we will use a brand and color of stain of your choice.

HARDWARE

HINGES

Hinges, latches, and exposed fasteners such as screws and bolts are stainless-steel and are available in the following colors:

GAS SPRINGS

Gas springs are available in the following material:

  • Stainless steel - recommended for maximum corrosion resistance in harsh environments, such as near the ocean. Stainless steel has a longer life span than plain steel.

  • Plain steel

CONSTRUCTION

  • We use pressure treated lumber and plywood for the floor and optional ramp. The upper frame is made from Douglas Fir.

  • When we build the frame, for each connection we glue and screw the joint.

  • On the outside we use stainless-steel fasteners.

  • WIDTH - Distance measured from left to right.

  • DEPTH - Distance measured from front to back.

  • HEIGHT - Distance measured from top to bottom.

INSIDE DIMENSIONS

We designed the Hidee to accommodate one, two, or three trash bins (trash, recycling, compost). You can buy the Hidee to hold any combination of these sizes: 16-, 32-, 64-, or 96-gallons.

The dimensions are based on bins Recology of San Francisco uses (See STANDARD BIN DIMENSIONS table above). If you use bins NOT from Recology, follow these formulas to find the correct size Hidee for your garbage bins.

  • CLASSIC HIDEE

    1. Bin 1 WIDTH + bin 2 WIDTH + bin 3 WIDTH + 1” should not exceed the INSIDE WIDTH,

    2. DEPTH of largest bin + 1/2” should not exceed the INSIDE DEPTH,

    3. HEIGHT of largest bin + 1/2” should not exceed the INSIDE HEIGHT,

    4. EXAMPLE:

      • Your bins are round where bin 1 WIDTH = 18”, bin 2 WIDTH = 18” and  bin 3 WIDTH = 22”,

        18” + 18” + 22” + 1” = 59”,

        59” should not exceed the INSIDE WIDTH.

      • The depth of your largest bin is 22”,

        22” + 1/2” = 22-1/2”,

        22-1/2” should not exceed the INSIDE DEPTH.

      • The height of your largest bin is 40”,

        40” + 1/2” = 40-1/2”,

        40-1/2” should not exceed the INSIDE HEIGHT.

      • Looking at the DIMENSIONS chart for CLASSIC HIDEE MODEL 1, THE BIN SIZES 16 16 64 is the smallest size to accommodate your three bins.

  • BRINA HIDEE

    1. Bin 1 DEPTH + bin 2 DEPTH + bin 3 DEPTH + 1” should not exceed the INSIDE WIDTH,

    2. WIDTH of largest bin + 1/2” should not exceed the INSIDE DEPTH,

    3. HEIGHT of largest bin + 1/2” should not exceed the INSIDE HEIGHT.

  • 5-A HIDEE

    1. Bins should not exceed the MAXIMUM BIN SIZE shown in the 5-A HIDEE DIMENSIONS chart.
